Privacy Policy

1. Information involved

Browsing: Our hosting and security providers may process technical information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as IP addresses, requested pages, request times, browser or device information and error or security logs. Hosting infrastructure may process this information even when you do not send us an inquiry.

Searches and the map: The site’s current book search and state filters run in your browser. The website’s search code does not send your search text to PUPA or a search service, create a search account, or store your search in a PUPA database. Normal browser history and provider logs are separate from this local search feature.

Inquiries: The author inquiry form prepares an email in your own email application. Entering information in the form does not submit it to a website database. If you choose to send the email, PUPA receives your email address, name and any manuscript details, contact information, attachments or other information you include. Book-help and general contact links likewise open your email application.

Purchases: The website directs readers to outside sellers and does not itself collect payment card information or process book purchases.

2. How information is used

Information may be used to deliver and secure the website, respond to correspondence, evaluate manuscript inquiries, discuss requested publishing support, address copyright or accuracy concerns, prevent misuse and meet legal obligations. Please provide only information needed for your request. Do not include payment card details, medical records, government identification or private information about other people in an ordinary book inquiry.

3. Providers and disclosures

Website hosting, security and email providers may handle information as needed to provide their services. The website is hosted through ChatGPT Sites using Cloudflare infrastructure. Authorized editors or contributors assisting with an inquiry may receive material relevant to that work. Your own email provider also handles messages you send.

Information may be disclosed when legally required or reasonably necessary to address security incidents, rights violations or legal claims. PUPA does not sell the correspondence you submit or use it for targeted advertising. The website’s current application code contains no advertising pixels or third-party marketing analytics scripts. This statement does not describe unrelated websites you visit through external links or all independent processing by infrastructure providers.

4. Cookies and browser controls

The website’s current application code does not set cookies or use local storage for tracking. Infrastructure providers may use cookies or similar mechanisms for security, traffic management or service delivery. These depend on provider settings and are distinct from the book search and state filters. You can manage cookies and browser history in your browser’s settings; blocking necessary service mechanisms may affect access.

5. Outside websites

Retailers, publishers, libraries and other linked organizations operate independently. When you follow their links, they may collect information under their own policies, including purchase and browsing information. PUPA’s policy does not govern their activities. Review their privacy notices before giving them personal information.

6. Retention and security

Correspondence and submitted material may be retained as reasonably necessary to handle the inquiry, maintain related editorial or agreement records, meet legal requirements or address disputes. Retention depends on the type of information and the reason for keeping it; provider logs and backups follow provider practices. You may ask about retention or request deletion using the contact below.

Internet transmission and email are not risk-free. No website or provider can guarantee absolute security. Please agree with us in advance on handling requirements for highly confidential material rather than sending it through an ordinary inquiry.

7. Your choices and requests

You may browse without sending an inquiry. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of correspondence held by PUPA by emailing Editor@pupabooks.com. Include enough information to identify the correspondence, without sending unnecessary sensitive information. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where required or permitted by law. We will handle requests according to applicable legal requirements.

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may also have rights to object to processing, restrict processing, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, receive portable data, appeal a denied request or complain to a relevant authority. Withdrawing consent does not undo lawful processing already carried out. Requests concerning data independently controlled by another provider should also be directed to that provider.

8. Children and family inquiries

Our listings include reading resources for families. We do not seek personal information from children under 13 through email inquiries. A parent or guardian should contact us on a young child’s behalf. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information without appropriate parental involvement, contact the editor so that we can review and remove it as appropriate.

9. International processing

Hosting and email services may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Applicable legal protections and provider arrangements govern those transfers. This notice does not waive any privacy rights that apply to you.

10. Updates and contact

We may revise this policy as the website or information practices change. The revised policy will carry an updated effective date; additional notice or consent will be provided where required by law.
